Two UK hotels have today been named among the best rated in the world for customer service in the 2014 Travellers’ Choice Hotels with Exceptional Service awards, announced by TripAdvisor. The Egerton House Hotel in London was chosen as the number one hotel in the UK in that category, also ranking sixth in Europe and 19th best in the world. This represents a rise on a 10th placed finish in the UK bracket in 2013. Closely behind was Lauriston Court in Llandudno, Wales. The small, family run hotel was chosen as the second best in the UK, seventh best hotel for customer service in Europe and 20th in the world, with room rates from just £37 per person, per night. Carol-Lynn Robbins, co-owner of Lauriston Court, said: “When it comes to giving great service, you’ve got to have a love for the job and people, coupled with bundles of energy and the ability to really empathise with people. “It’s fantastic to know that our hard work isn’t going unnoticed with another Travellers’ Choice Service award under our belt.” The 2014 awards mark the first time that this category has been called out separately to the coveted annual Travellers’ Choice awards for Hotels which were announced in January. This award honours the top accommodations in the world for service and is determined based on the millions of reviews and opinions of TripAdvisor travellers around the globe. The south of England fared well with 14 of the 25 UK winners located below the M4 corridor with the south west in particular shining through with seven winners, more than any other region. While London unsurprisingly picked up more awards than any other UK city, the seaside resorts were successful with Blackpool, Portsmouth and Llandudno the only ones to pick up more than one award with two each. On a wider scale, Morocco and USA celebrated the most wins in the global category, both with four hotels inside the world’s top 25, followed by Vietnam with three.
