Tommy Banks’s The Abbey Inn named best place for a Sunday roast in UK
North Yorkshire pub The Abbey Inn has been named as the best place in the UK for a Sunday roast in the Good Food Guide.
They have listed the 50 best roasts across the country, after 18,000 public nominations and anonymous inspections.
And The Abbey Inn, a pub with rooms run by Tommy Banks in Byland, has come out on top.
A post from the pub on Instagram read: “We’re incredibly thankful to all our guests who voted for us, and we feel very lucky to be able to serve such a unique roast, lovingly prepared using produce from our farm.
“Including our pigs, sheep and cows plus a variety of vegetables, ferments, preserves and more all made a matter of metres from The Abbey Inn.”
A number of other venues earned a mention, including Blacklock Canary Wharf, selected in the ‘best group dining’ category.
‘Best value’ went to Lagom at Hackney Church Brew Co, while Shrub in Chester was listed top in the ‘best vegan’ list.
‘Best twist on a classic’ went to The Social Distortion in Hull.
