Chef Russell Brown, who runs Sienna Restaurant in Dorchester, held a ten day event where he cooked a ten course menu each day. Each ticket included a £10 donation to the charity Hospitality Action. Other fundraising initiatives included an auction hosted by The Staff Canteen to win a tasting menu for two at the Dorset fine-dining restaurant, which contributed £350 to the overall sum raised. The Staff Canteen also published each of Russell’s ten menus over the course of ten days running up to the event. Russell Brown said: “The increase in the profile that The Staff Canteen gave us for the 10th anniversary definitely helped to increase the amount of money we raised for Hospitality Action.” The event raised more than £2,000 for HA, the industry benevolent charity, which provides much needed support to those from the industry experiencing difficult times. Penny Moore, CEO of Hospitality Action said “Many congratulations to Sienna on their ten year anniversary. I am delighted that Russell and Elena have been able to support Hospitality Action during this happy time. So far this year the charity has processed 35% more applications for help than at the same point in 2012 so the money raised during these celebrations really will make all the difference.” Event sponsors included Blackacre Farm Eggs, Westwood House guest house, Richard Budd Photography, Bollinger Champagne, Dorset Wines, Oliver Harvey chefswear, Hildon and Villeroy & Boch.
