Great British Menu is set to return to our screens for series 20, early in 2025.

This season’s theme of “Great Britons” will see the chefs draw inspiration from their choice of important people, from ancient to modern history, who’ve come from their area.

Who are the judges on the Great British Menu?

Now in her third year as host, Andi Oliver is an award-winning TV Chef and Broadcaster who enjoys a rich and varied career. Lorna Mcnee, Chef Director at Glasgow’s Michelin-starred restaurant, Cail Bruich, takes over from Nisha Katona, who is moving on from the show after serving as a judge for three years. Two Michelin-starred celebrity chef Tom Kerridge also returns in this season along with comedian and Off Menu podcast host, Ed Gamble.

We've caught a glimpse of some of the chefs appearing in this year's show, whether as competitors representing their regions or as veteran judges, having formerly won the competition: Aktar Islam, Angela Harnett, Cal Byerley, Rory Welch and Scott John-Hodgson.

How many heats or regions are there?

The show pits chefs from eight regions against each other, with three competing chefs from each location: Scotland, the South West, the North West, Wales, Central, the London South/East area, the North East and Northern Ireland.

When does Great British Menu 2025 start? Where can I watch Great British Menu series 20? When is finals week? When is the Banquet?

Series 20 of Great British Menu starts early in 2025 and will run for eight weeks, culminating in a banquet meal celebrating the theme, with a regional chef cooking each course and a champion of champions.

There will be eight weeks of regional heats followed by the finals and banquet. All episodes will be available to watch week by week on BBC iPlayer. Series 19 is still available to watch on BBC iPlayer.

What is the Great British Menu 2025 theme?

This season’s theme of “Great Britons” will see the chefs draw inspiration from their choice of important people, from ancient to modern history, who’ve come from their area. Each episode will also feature a guest judge, with strong connections to the region or nation being judged, who will help decide the winning chef. In Scotland, the guest judge is Ben Thomas, an RNLI volunteer and firefighter who won ‘Special Recognition’ at the 2024 Pride of Scotland awards.

Last years Great British Menu contestants created dishes around the Olympics and Paralympics to cook at a final banquet to wish the Team GB athletes good luck for the Paris Olympics.
