Seasonal Update 26.08.11

Good Afternoon Chef,
I hope your week has been happy and healthy; we are already busy planning our Christmas offerings, as I expect you have already started on your menus.  My mum has already made our Christmas cake; on the other hand, my Dad has been playing with his new tractor.  I will be staying at the farm to attend the Ludlow Food Festival, and Dad has actually agreed to let me have a go!
A few minor shifts for next week, but a lot of great seasonal produce on offer; please refer to our last two seasonal updates for more information or our website, if you need copies of these please do let me know.
Wild Mushrooms & Truffles
We are following the Cep flushes around Europe and expect a small delivery fromRomania to start next week.  Flushes will be sporadic, so we do have dried and frozen ceps to offer, which can offer consistency until the season rolls forward in September.
There has been a lot of rain, so we are hopefully for our first delivery of English Giant Puffballs at the end of the week.  Keep updated on twitter to find out as and when they are in.
Other than that no changes from the cracking range on offer, which includes

Trompette
Chanterelle
Pied de Mouton
Cauliflower Fungus
Stropharia Rugos-Annulata

Wild mushrooms are a marriage made in heaven with game.
Black Summer Truffles are clinging on, but we are expecting the imminent arrival of Autumn truffles.
Season End

Sea blight
Fresh frais du bois, though frozen whole fruit and puree available
Mirabelle plums
Fresh gherkins
Apricots

Game
Beautiful plump, long legged grouse from Scotland is down in price and we will be receiving our first order of venison saddles, strip-loins, hare & oven-ready woodpigeon & woodpigeon breasts coming for the beginning of the week.
This year, as a first, our supplier is offering Grey Squirrel as a pre-order special request; please get in touch if you are interested.
Also I have to remind you that because of the Bank Holiday we will be closed on Monday, so we won’t be here.  If you miss us today, you can leave your order on our answer machines.
As ever, if you have any further enquires please do get in touch with myself or your account manager and don’t forget to follow us on twitter to keep up to the minute up to date.  Have a fantastic weekend chef and a great week for Tuesday; for those working the bank holiday, don’t work too hard.
Best wishes,
Louise Thomas
