The Prosecco DOC Consortium continues to preserve the territory and its biodiversity in a dynamic and evolving way, right across the production chain and social and economic pillars including the adoption of a code of ethics and an all-embracing management control system.

The Prosecco DOC Consortium is actively implementing several initiatives to enhance the sustainability of its wine production, focusing on environmental preservation, social responsibility, and economic viability. Key initiatives include:

The Consortium’s annual Winemaker’s Handbook guiding producers on biodiversity, herbicide-free practices, organic fertilizers, reduced chemicals, efficient irrigation, and vineyard balance.

The SISOVI project developing predictive climate models, identifying high-risk areas, and safeguarding the quality of Prosecco amidst changing climatic conditions.

The MORE Project focusing on monitoring and reducing energy use from sparkling phase to storage, cutting energy consumption without compromising quality.

Developing a digital system that collects vineyard/winery data to calculate carbon and water footprints, supporting continuous improvement through sustainability reports.
and the Ampelopros Project, which is the planting of experimental vineyards (Vitis Vinifera as well as resistant varieties) in two different areas of the DOC Prosecco to test possible answers to climate change and the necessity of reducing the use of chemicals.

Through these comprehensive measures, the Prosecco DOC Consortium demonstrates a strong commitment to producing wines more sustainably, ensuring environmental stewardship, social responsibility, and economic resilience.
