Jun Tanaka, One Michelin Star Chef, Becomes Ambassador of Champagne Lanson in the UK

Owner of The Ninth restaurant located on Charlotte St in the Fitzrovia neighbourhood of London, Jun Tanaka is a renowned Michelin Starred-Chef. Well-rooted in gastronomy, Maison Lanson is proud to count Jun Tanaka among its Chef Ambassadors who highlight its Champagnes around the world.

Opened in 2015, The Ninth is a relaxed neighbourhood restaurant, a place that you can visit for a couple of plates and a glass of wine or for a full gastronomic experience of French Mediterranean- style sharing dishes using quality seasonal produce. The restaurant was awarded one Michelin star two years after its opening, a distinction which is a testament to the team’s hard work and passion. The team is led by a culture based on caring, openness and transparency, values shared with Maison Lanson whose champagnes are recognized and consumed in more than 80 countries. 2023 gave a second life to The Ninth with the reopening of the restaurant after eight months closure following a fire, during which time the team was kept together thanks to the values and ethos of the restaurant.

Hervé Dantan, Lanson Cellar Master:
“Chef Jun Tanaka serves fine French cuisine that combines quality, flavours and modernity. There is a lot of resonance in our approach of creation: the selection of the best products, the elaboration of the recipe, until the emotion sought during the tasting. It’s all about sharing .’’

Jun Tanaka, Chef-Patron at The Ninth:
“Maison Lanson’s values of openness, creativity, transparency and loyalty resonate with us. Since we opened The Ninth in 2015 we have prioritized our team and we have focused on creating a working culture where the team feels valued, fulfilled and inspired. We achieve this in part from open, transparent and honest communication. The care, attention and expertise that Lanson applies into producing its Champagne aligns with our approach to creating a memorable experience for all our guests. I hope that through our collaboration, we can show Champagne’s versatility as a pairing for dishes throughout the meal.“
