Simon Rogan's L'Enclume named Best in the World in La Liste's Top 1000 Restaurants
Simon Rogan’s three Michelin starred restaurant L'Enclume has been awarded the top ranking in La Liste 2024 sharing the number one spot worldwide with six other restaurants in La Liste’s Top 1000 Restaurants.
It marks the first time a UK chef has ever achieved this accolade in the eight years since La Liste launched.
Other UK restaurants to feature included three Michelin-starred Core by Claire Smyth; Mark Birchall's two Michelin-starred Moor Hall; Gareth Ward's two Michelin-starred Ynyshir; and Raymond Blanc's two Michelin-starred Le Manoir aux Quat’Saisons.
A total of 78 UK restaurants featured in La Liste's Top 1000 Restaurants.
Located in the Lake District village of Cartmel, and widely regarded as one of the UK’s leading dining destinations, L’Enclume opened in 2002 in a former 13th-century blacksmith’s workshop.

With a farm-to-table philosophy at its core and a focus on the ingredients grown at Simon’s farm in the Cartmel Valley, Our Farm, the produce-driven menu showcases locality above all and gives prominence to each and every ingredient.
Commenting on the award, Simon said: "I'm deeply honored and humbled by the recognition of L’Enclume as the top British restaurant in La Liste 1000 2024. Being listed alongside so many brilliant restaurants we've always admired, many of which we've had the privilege of connecting with, visiting, and collaborating, is an immense privilege."
L'Enclume celebrated its 20 year anniversary last year, the same year it was awarded its third Michelin star, the first restaurant in the north of England to do so and one of only eight restaurants in the UK to receive this coveted status.
This year saw Simon expand internationally with an opening in Malta and Thailand next month.
Started in 2015 initially only publishing a list of 1000 restaurants, La Liste has grown to now cover 195 countries and has added a top 1000 hotels list.

"This achievement symbolises two decades of dedication, perseverance, and a bold choice my wife and I made in 2002, investing everything to open a restaurant in the small but wonderful village of Cartmel in The Lakes. We proudly remain an independent group of restaurants, driven by talent, hard work, and creativity," he said.
Simon added: "At the core of our journey is my exceptional team at L’Enclume. They embody unmatched dedication and passion in the industry. Their drive and commitment are the driving force behind our continuous pursuit of excellence and innovation."
With its own scoring system and based on reviews, guidebooks and trusted publications, the list is a handpicked selection of the world’s best restaurants.
