The Staff Canteen
Simon Merrick has been appointed the new Director of Hobart Cooking Solutions, taking over from the recently retired Managing Director Ian Garner. In his new role at the Peterborough-based company, Simon will be responsible for the success of Hobart’s leading portfolio of brands including Bonnet, ELRO, MBM and Wolf. Speaking about his new role, Simon said: “I am delighted to have joined such a major kitchen equipment company as Hobart and am looking forward to working with my new team to address the challenges ahead. “My initial focus will be on maintaining the growth of the cooking business and building on Hobart’s unrivalled reputation among caterers for technological development, product innovation and equipment quality.” Simon, 41, has plenty of experience of the catering equipment industry after a spell working for Manitowoc Foodservice, a manufacturer and supplier of professional kitchen equipment, where he had been Sales Director, responsible for UK, Ireland and Scandinavia before moving to Hobart. Prior to that he spent almost eight years at Merrychef, part of the Manitowoc group, where most recently he was employed as Business and Development Director UK & Ireland. Simon joined Merrychef in 2002 as Key Account Manager responsible for sales and overall account management of major selected multiple accounts. Earlier in his career, he worked in a similar role for various foodservice companies.
