The list of restaurants featured in the Michelin Guide Chicago 2018 were announced Friday, November 20.

25 restaurants were selected for the eighth edition of the Michelin Guide Chicago, including one new two star restaurant and two new one stars. In the three star category, both Grant Achatz's Alinea and Curtis Duffy's Grace retained their accolade but there were no new entries.

New to the two star category, Smyth is situated in the West Loop area. Inspired by their time living in Smyth County, (Virginia) husband and wife John and Karen Urie Shields opened the restaurant in August 2016. They have gained a star since last year, joining retaining restaurants Oriole and Acadia.

Michael Ellis, international director of the Michelin Guide said:
"Chefs John and Karen Shields have remarkable resumes at the best restaurants across the country. But what they have built in their own kitchen is even more remarkable."

He added: "Anchored by quality produce from The Farm, dining at Smyth is a naturally delicious and beautiful experience.”

The tasting menu at Smyth is available with 5, 6, or 12 courses, and prices start from $85 per person. Beverage pairing is available for an additional cost.

Sixteen have also retained their two stars under new chef Nick Dostal. 42 Grams and Tru have both been deleted due to closures.

In the one star category, a total of 19 restaurants were selected - including new additions, Elske and Entente.

Elske is a new opening for another husband and wife team, David and Anna Posey. Both bring experience from other Michelin-starred Chicago restaurants, serving a unique style of Scandi-American food.

Entente is a collaboration between the team at Fujimura Hospitality (Arami, SmallBar, Pub97) and chef Brian Fisher. Their a la carte menu is a creative reinterpretation of classic dishes from a diverse range of cultures.

The Michelin Guide Chicago 2018 goes on sale Thursday, October 26 at a suggested retail price of $18.99.
