Global Sushi Challenge to be held at Nobu restaurant, London

The Staff Canteen
The renowned World Sushi Skills Institute of Japan (WSSI) joins the Norwegian Seafood Council (NSC) to find the most accomplished sushi and sashimi chefs for the launch of the Global Sushi Challenge 2015. SushiThe UK heat, to be held at Nobu restaurant, Old Park Lane on 30th September, will see chefs compete for a place in the International final in Japan where they will be judged by some of the best sushi experts in the world. Chefs will be asked to prepare two dishes, one Edo Mae and one original sushi. UK Sushi consumption is one of the greatest outside Japan, with London accounting for 40% of the total and it just carries on rising. A multicultural society, an interest in health, sophisticated tastes, increased choice and lunchtime demand have all contributed. The exclusive two day training programme for all sushi chefs, held on the two days before the competition, will be run by renowned sushi chef Kazato. Chefs will qualify as a ‘sensei’, and receive the highly acclaimed ’Sushi Proficiency Certificate’, the only globally approved certificate by the official sushi body in Japan if passing a written exam. Priority will be given to competitors and participating restaurants can have access to at least two places. To register your interest for a training place, please contact Andy Stephenson, [email protected], and to enter or to attend the Challenge please contact Lydia Dawkins, [email protected].
