Chef Tom Brown is excited to announce Sunday Sessions, a series of collaborative lunches with fellow top chefs and friends, taking place once a month at his restaurant Cornerstone in Hackney Wick. Sunday Sessions will see some of the country’s most talented and loved chefs prepare dishes they love to cook, but rarely get the chance to serve. The confirmed line up will include Nathan Outlaw, Tom Kerridge, Nieves Barragan, Lee Tiernan, Brad Carter and Gareth Ward, with more names to be announced.
Kicking off proceedings on Sunday 16th February will be Tom’s mentor and seafood legend Nathan Outlaw, whose Cornish restaurants include Restaurant Nathan Outlaw (2 Michelin Stars), Outlaw’s Fish Kitchen (1 Michelin Star), as well as Siren at The Goring in Belgravia. On the day, Nathan will be preparing his version of a fish pie, with cod, salmon, and smoked haddock in a creamy white sauce. Nathan adds capers and shallots to his dish and finishes it off with a soft-boiled egg.
Speaking of his former boss’ involvement Tom says: “Everything we do here at Cornerstone is thanks to Nathan and I am beyond excited to cook with him again. Who better to kick off Sunday Sessions than the seafood Jedi himself!”
Sunday Sessions will be a chance for Tom to invite his mentors and peers into the kitchen, and the menus will reflect this, with dishes on offer designed to bring diners together. Cornerstone signature starters will be served in the form of Tom’s famed Sea-cuterie; Mackerel pâté with treacle bread; Oysters - Cornerstone style and Grey mullet tartare with egg yolk, seaweed and soy. Mains will be created by the guest chef in question and presented to the table to be shared family-style. To finish, Cornerstone’s own talented pastry chef, Kelly Cullen, will delight guests with her showstopping sharing desserts.
In keeping with the party spirit and Tom’s passion for music, the restaurant will welcome DJs to each event ensuring the great atmosphere is as plentiful as the food. Tickets will also guarantee guests
access to an afterparty hosted at recently launched, Allegra, within The Stratford hotel, where guests can sip on specially created Sunday Session cocktails.
‘Sunday Sessions are a chance for us to bring something different to the restaurant, something outside of a normal service that feels more relaxed. It’s also an opportunity for us to show chefs we admire the amazing community atmosphere that made me fall in love with the Wick - and more importantly to have a knees-up with some banging food and good tunes!’
Limited edition signed prints by Carlos Peñalver, depicting Tom and the contributing chefs, will be exhibited and available to buy on the day. Carlos is the artist behind the beautiful murals on the Cornerstone walls.
Each Sunday Sessions menu will cost £100pp, inclusive of a welcome gin & tonic made with Cornerstone’s very own gin in partnership with Wrecking Coast Distillery. Alternatively, for £150pp, guests can also enjoy a wine flight as advised by resident sommelier, Mattia Mazzi. Both ticket options include access to the Sunday Sessions afterparty at Allegra with complimentary drink on arrival.
Tickets for Nathan Outlaw’s event go on sale on 2nd February 2020 and are available through the Cornerstone website.
