To celebrate National Curry Week, Lakeland Dairies launch brand new Curry Week Recipe Guide for schools

The 24th National Curry Week takes place from the 3rd to 9th October 2022 and celebrates the UK’s love for curry.

Dairy experts Lakeland Dairies are celebrating National Curry Week with the launch of a brand-new Curry Week Recipe Guide. Especially created for schools, it features a range of tasty creamy curry recipes, lovingly created by their expert development Chef, Anubhav. Inspiration for the Guide comes from all over India to help school caterers create delicious themed menus for National Curry Week.

Research from the School Food People LACA, shows that curry is the most popular school meal*. The Lakeland Dairies Curry Week Recipe Guide for schools is packed with school-friendly curry recipes using Millac Gold Single.

Jean Cattanach, Marketing Controller at Lakeland Dairies comments, “Curry is such a popular dish, we wanted to help inspire school caterers to celebrate one of the nation’s favourite dishes. Which is why we have created this easy to use curry recipe guide which will help bring new and exciting flavours to their menus.”

A FoodHub survey for National Curry Week in 2020 showed creamy curries are the nations favourites with the top two curries being Tikka Masala and Korma. To meet this demand, the Lakeland Dairies’ Curry Week Recipe Guide offers up five new creamy recipes including a delicious Coconut Curry with Carrots and Peas inspired by Chef Anubhav’s mum, a light coconut flavoured curry with a wonderful creamy texture. A Shredded Butter Chicken Curry which is a rich tomato-based curry elevated by adding Tandoori chicken for extra flavour. A Chicken Potato and Spinach Curry inspired by Chef Anubhav’s Nanny, Amma, and is a fantastic way to eat spinach. A Mango Chicken Curry inspired by Indian monsoon rain and the mangos which come with them, it’s a sweet and tangy curry perfect for lunch. Lastly a Red Kidney Bean Curry which is a light curry inspired by ‘Rajma and rice’ from North India.

Cream is a key ingredient of many curries. The recipes in the guide use Millac Gold Single, made by Lakeland Dairies as it’s a high performing cream alternative which helps to simplify cooking in busy kitchens. Offering enhanced stability and excellent reliability, it doesn’t split and is a hero ingredient for making curries.

“Millac Gold Single is very user-friendly; it doesn’t split and the time to cook the dishes is reduced so you have more time to develop dishes that everyone loves!”
