Oliver Harvey Supports Hayden Groves' Charity Ride

National Chef of the Year 2013 Hayden Groves, will be substituting his Oliver Harvey chef whites, for his cycling shorts in July next year. In a bid to raise an incredible £1 million for the charity Cure Leukaemia, Groves will join former England international football player and leukaemia survivor Geoff Thomas on the Le Tour One Day Ahead trip.

The challenge is to complete the full 3,300km, 21-stage, Tour de France 2015 route one day before the professional athletes begin.

Hayden Groves is one of the most respected and well known British chefs in the industry today, achieving a number of prestigious accolades over the years. One of the mantras Hayden lives by is, “The only limitations are those that you set yourself”.

Hayden’s interest in bike-riding began as a youngster, and following the 1989 Tour de France he became inspired to turn to road racing himself and has followed the race and sport closely ever since. Hayden’s dream during his early twenties was actually to become a professional cyclist, but a career of success in the kitchen beckoned.

After hearing about Geoff’s challenge, Hayden saw it as a once in a lifetime opportunity to attempt something he’s always dreamed of, whilst fund raising for an incredible cause simultaneously.

Hayden is no stranger to charity challenges, but this trip will definitely be the most ultimate to date. The difficulty of the task ahead is no mystery, but both Geoff and Hayden believe the dedicated and confident team around them will help to achieve the goal.

Hayden’s positive, determined mind-set towards such challenges is demonstrated brilliantly with another quote in which he lives by.

“If your dreams or challenges don’t scare you a little, then they’re not big enough.”

100% of the money raised goes straight to Cure Leukaemia. Oliver Harvey tweeted a news post, with £1 donation per retweet with a max of 250.
