Since beginning his career at Brinkley’s Restaurant in London, where he went from sous chef to head chef within a month, Antony has overseen a number of restaurants including Ménage a Trois which began in Knightsbridge and grew to encompass sites in New York, Washington, Melbourne and Stockholm.
In March 1988 he won the Mouton Rothschild Menu Competition, and shortly before in December 1987 the most prestigious accolade: the Meilleur Ouvrier de Grande Bretagne (MOGB) – the chef’s Oscar – which is the Academy of Culinary Arts competition, held every four years, to find the most talented chefs in the country. He is one of only a handful of chefs in the UK to have merited the lifelong title so far. In 1989, he also represented Great Britain in the Bocuse d’Or.
He was the first chef/patron at One Ninety Queen’s Gate, which won the Time Out Eating Guide’s Best New Restaurant award in 1990 and was Managing Director of the Simpsons of Cornhill Group for which he launched amongst others, dell’Ugo in Frith Street, Atrium in Westminster, Palio in Notting Hill Gate and Drones in Belgravia, all in London.
He currently has two restaurants and a pub: the Windsor Grill and Kew Grill and The Greyhound in Rotherfield Peppard just outside Henley-on-Thames, Oxfordshire.
In 1998, Antony became resident studio chef and main presenter for BBC2’s Food & Drink programme, has been a regular on Ready Steady Cook and is a judge for the British Street Food Awards.
Increasingly in demand to comment on serious food issues including diabetes, obesity, nutrition and the eating habits of children, the 45-minute interview at the Hospitality Show 2013 will leave no stone unturned and make for a true spectacle.
Toby Wand, Managing Director at Fresh Montgomery comments: “We’re delighted to have Antony at the show. He was one of our very first celebrity chefs and not many people have done more to make cooking accessible to the masses than him. With a long and decorated history in the industry, he truly is a fascinating character. The knowledge and experience that he can impart will be invaluable to show visitors, as he has seen and done it all. Save the date in your diary – this is one not to miss!”
