Craft Guild of Chefs’ Vice Presidents launch Young Chef Scholarship

The Craft Guild of Chefs has launched a brand-new Young Chef Scholarship programme, for which each year one chef will secure a bursary for education and training worth up to £5000. As the UK’s leading chef’s organisation, the Craft Guild of Chefs is committed to inspiring and developing the next generation of chefs into innovative and creative professionals, and this new scholarship will help support that aim.

Steve Munkley, Vice President comments, “We are delighted to officially launch the annual Young Chef Scholarship, an initiative all the Vice Presidents are pleased to have delivered. It’s a fantastic opportunity for young chefs, and I urge them to get in touch and apply for the support in their education and training.”

The Young Chef Scholarship will provide funding of up to £5000 to the successful applicant. The funding is to be used to access opportunities which specifically enhance the chef scholar’s culinary education and development. Eligible activities for the use of this scholarship will include:
• Education Programmes/certifications (College or University based)
• Work experience/Internship opportunities (UK or internationally)
• Completion of independent specialised programmes
• Purchase of specialist culinary equipment
• Any other culinary education related programmes/activities


To be eligible to apply for the Craft Guild of Chefs Young Chef Scholarship, applicants must be aged 18 - 25 years of age at 31st December 2024, hold a valid UK Passport, and be currently employed by a recognised catering establishment based in the UK.

To apply chefs must submit their application online, with their CV, details of why they should be considered, intended use of the scholarship, budget, and expected outcome from completion of the proposed activity. They also need a professional reference from a senior chef. For full criteria please see the application form on the Craft Guild of Chefs website. Entries will open on Monday 21st October and close on Friday 13th December 2024.
