Thomas Carr Seafood & Grill officially opens with Launch Event

Following a successful crowdfunding campaign at the start of 2018, North Devon based chef Thomas Carr has officially launched his second restaurant, Thomas Carr Seafood & Grill. The new restaurant actually part opened on Ilfracombe’s High Street on February 14th and has already been going down a storm, in more ways than one!

‘’We opened really quietly’’, said Thomas. ‘’We wanted to test a brand new team, brand new kitchen so we had a very ‘soft’ launch. Word was starting to spread and we were just gathering pace when the snow storm hit us hard. We had to close both restaurants for effectively an entire week as we couldn’t get all deliveries or guarantee the safety of the staff’’

When the snow hit Ilfracombe recently, closing the restaurants didn’t stop Thomas and his team cooking, sending meals out to over 40 individuals/households in need when the snow storm hit.

But now with hopefully a Spring and Summer to look ahead to, the second phase of the opening is complete. With a glitzy event on Thursday (15th March) to launch the new upstairs dining room. As part of the successful crowdfunding campaign, a number of backers had purchased tickets to the event. They, along with local press and invited guests attended the event where guests were served up delights from the menu, cocktails, entertainment from musicians and a magician before the big reveal of the ‘Wall of Fame’. The wall of fame features the names of everybody that backed the project and sits in the restaurant.

Thomas explained about the wall of fame ‘’It’s a great testament to those that made this possible, we hope everyone will be able to come in, see their names and really feel a part of this’’

The feedback on the new venture has been fantastic so far, with an ever growing list of 5 star reviews on TripAdvisor and Facebook. The sister restaurant, Michelin starred Thomas Carr @ The Olive Room also goes from strength to strength too - with Michelin themselves tweeting this weekend about ‘’Seafood Supremo’ Thomas.

Thomas Carr Seafood & Grill has a dining room upstairs with capacity for 30 diners, downstairs has a trendy pub type feel, boasting a great selection of cocktails developed on site then an outside space just waiting for the sun to make it’s long awaited reappearance.
