Beehive News - April 2017

April welcomes a new season and a change of menu, our garden will soon be open and the cricket season will begin. The lambs are bouncing around in the field opposite the pub and the mowers have been out on the wicket. Spring is a wonderful time of year in any restaurant; asparagus, morels, pheasant eggs, monk’s beard, wild garlic, strawberries and of course new season lamb. So many delicious, colourful ingredients for us to enjoy, enabling the kitchen to produce some vibrant and fresh new dishes for you to enjoy.

We are delighted to have started the year by being voted Number 7 in the Estrella Damm Top 50 Gastropub Awards 2017 and in February the Beehive was written up in the Lifestyle section of The Telegraph Newspaper.

During the year we are planning some exciting events, starting with my great friend Chef Josh Eggleton, of Great British Menu fame, cooking for you at The Beehive on the 10th April. Josh holds a Michelin star at The Pony and Trap in Chew Magna where he serves up modern British food with an emphasis on sustainability and artisanship.

On 15th May we welcome chef Atul Kochhar to The Beehive for a dinner celebrating the wonderful flavours of India. In 1994 Atul was at the forefront of Indian cooking in the UK, opening the Tamarind restaurant and achieving a Michelin Star in 2001. His contemporary style and love of traditional cooking techniques led him to appear on numerous TV programmes and to open his own restaurant ‘Benares,’ Berkeley Square in 2003 which won a Michelin Star in 2007. Atul’s portfolio across the world includes the second Benares in Madrid, Rang Mahal at the JW Marriott Marquis Hotel Dubai and recently NRI and LIMA in Mumbai.

These dinners are always very popular and early booking is essential to avoid disappointment.

Easter Day is approaching fast; we will be offering our full à La Carte Menu and an Easter Egg Hunt for you and your children to enjoy. Again, please do book early for Easter Day as this is always a very popular Sunday lunch!

We are now looking for keen cricketers to play in our team against White Waltham Cricket Club. The match is on Sunday 2nd July and is always a day full of fun and good spirits. Please get in touch if you would like to play or be a part in this local derby and annual event. We will also entertain you with live music and a hog roast after 6pm.

All the information on our events can be found on our website www.thebeehivewhitewaltham.com.

Our PDQ (Pretty Damn Quick) menu has been a huge success and we will continue to offer this great value lunch menu offering two courses at £15.95 or three courses at £19.95. This menu changes daily and offers some wonderful dishes for a quick and easy lunch.

Come and enjoy our Drink of the Month – it’s always Pimms o’ clock in the sunshine at the Beehive White Waltham!

Thank you for your continued support, we all look forward to seeing you soon.
