Fortune Fried Chicken
This spring, Harneet Baweja will open Fortune Fried Chicken, a Thai fried chicken restaurant in Spitalfields Market led by executive chef Jane Alty.
Jane has worked in top London kitchens like Bibendum, Racine, and the Michelin-starred Nahm.
The restaurant will serve Thai fried chicken marinated in soy, fish sauce, garlic, and coriander, then coated in rice flour and deep-fried for a crispy skin.
The menu will include hand-pulled chicken, sticky rice, som tam papaya salad, and a chicken burger with tamarind sesame glaze as well as Thai beers, house-made lemonades, and teas.
On the launch, Harneet said: “Every time I visit Bangkok, my first stop is always for Thai fried chicken. Each vendor has their own take on it and I’ve spent years searching for the perfect version.
“After months in the test kitchen, we’ve perfected our recipe and Spitalfields Market feels like the perfect location to bring it to life.”
The new restaurant is set to open on May 2.

MARJORIES
Marjories, a new French restaurant and wine bar has been announced in Soho.
Created by dynamic duo Michael Searle and Josh Anderson alongside head chef and business partner Giacomo Peretti, Marjorie’s is set to open the Parisian-inspired restaurant this May.
Marjorie's will be open daily for lunch and dinner. It has 47 seats split over two floors, with 27 on the ground floor and 20 downstairs, plus 12 outdoor seats for al fresco dining in warmer months.
Giacomo's menu at Marjorie's will change regularly and includes dishes such as chicken liver rocher, fried courgette, Brie de Meaux, escargot, crab tart, red mullet, bavette, mille-feuille, and raspberry sorbet.
A daily cheese board will feature imported French cheeses from La Fromagerie.
In terms of alcoholic beverages, the all-French wine list, curated by Michael, will showcase wines from across France, including small-batch producers and classic varietals.
A selection of wines will be available by the glass, changing regularly to pair with the food menu.
Marjorie’s co-founder Michael, said: “Josh and I have been planning a wine bar since our first road trip around France together in my old P-reg Vauxhall Corsa, back in 2014!
“Through many a research trip, we've always been completely inspired by the ‘bar à vins’ of Paris' outer arrondissements where young Parisian chefs and restaurateurs work hard to show a contemporary edge to French cuisine; a cuisine that can often be misinterpreted to be firmly rooted in classics that haven't changed in decades.
“There's an edge to this certain style of wine bar that offers food and wine of exceptional quality in a totally laid back, laissez-faire style, almost saying that top-quality food and wine should be a given.”

“For now, we just want to shout out a big THANK YOU to all our lovely guests who have always been so kind, sweet and supportive to our team and our work all along. You’re honest the best guests a team could ever ask for.
