Patrick Powell announced to take over former The Gilbert Scott restaurant
Hotelier Harry Handelsman announced that Patrick Powell will take over the space formerly occupied by Marcus Wareing's The Gilbert Scott within St Pancras Renaissance Hotel.
Set to be relaunched as the Midland Grand Dining Room, the decision will mark the third collaboration between Harry and Patrick after the two worked together at Chiltern Firehouse, where Patrick was head chef for four years.
It was with Harry's support that Patrick then went on to open his first restaurant in 2019, the highly acclaimed Allegra located on the seventh floor of Manhattan Loft Gardens in Stratford.
Upon opening, Patrick will continue to oversee the kitchen at Allegra collaborating with his head chef there, Atilla Gellen.
Another name synonymous with the building over the past tweleve months who will also be involved in the new project is Parisian architect and designer Hugo Toro, who is responsible for the recent arresting redesign of Booking Office 1869, and who Harry has confirmed as the design studio leading the refurbishment of Midland Grand Dining Room.
Originally a Dining and Coffee Room during the building's tenure as Midland Grand Hotel in the late 19th and into the 20th century, the opening is slated for early next year with the new concept also retaining a bar, as well as private dining spaces.
