Happy 20th Birthday Moshi Moshi

The Staff Canteen
By Sara Williams Twenty years ago Moshi Moshi opened their doors for the first time and brought the original kaiten sushi restaurant to the UK. Moshi Moshi plan to celebrate the occasion in July and August with superb birthday dishes, free treats, special events and bargain prices. Back tables with screenBack tables with screenMoshi Moshi has seen the likes of celebrity chef Hugh Fearnley-Whittingstall through their doors, who credits the restaurant: “Walking into Moshi Moshi was one of the most memorable first impressionable moments of my restaurant-reviewing career. The location, the design, the buzz… but being suspended in a cool glass capsule over the rail tracks… would have counted for nothing if it wasn’t for the outstanding quality of sushi.” The birthday celebrations will be staggered over the coming three weeks, starting from Monday 28th July where they are specially charging their 1994 prices at the sushi counter starting from 90p ranging to £2.50. Other birthday celebrations follow:
  • For poetry lovers there is a chance to compose a haiku on Thursday 31st July which is based around the changes in your life since 1994. There is also a chance to win dinner for two.
  • On Friday 1st August there will be hidden golden tickets on the conveyor belt dishes which will bring prizes to several winners.
  • On Thursday 7th August Moshi Moshi are serving up their favourite 20 dishes from over the past 20 years.
Caroline Bennett   Caroline Bennett, proud owner of Moshi Moshi, says: “Gone are the days when diners wanted diet coke with a crabstick and avocado maki roll for lunch, now customers are enjoying more ambitious dishes like our ankimo, monkfish liver which we call the ‘foie gras’ of the sea, or our prawn head crispies, eyes and all, enjoyed with sencha tea or a Japanese beer.” "The variety of food does not stop there and Bennett hopes to see the restaurant develop further in the future and follow the latest Japanese trends. “In Japan there are menus revolving completely around artisanal tofus, and a wider variety of seafood is served…Whatever is contemporary and best in Japan, we will be serving in London.”
In these challenging times…
