Plans revealed for new Michel Roux Jr restaurant

Plans have been revealed for a new restaurant by Michel Roux Jr, set to open in March 2025.

Michel closed the famous two Michelin-starred Le Gavroche earlier this year.

Within the grounds of 17th-century Crossbasket Castle in Glasgow, former MasterChef: The Professionals judge Michel will run Trocadero’s Restaurant and Cocktail Bar.

It is part of a wider £20million development by owners Alison and Steve Timoney.

They will also build a new 40-bedroom hotel inside the grounds, allowing for an additional 35,000 visitors each year.

Trocadero’s is set to be Michel’s second restaurant at the hotel, with Michel Roux Jr Restaurant already in operation, having previously been overseen by his father Albert Roux since 2016. As well as afternoon tea at Crossbasket Castle, there is a dinner menu of French dishes made with Scottish ingredients.

Alison said: "We are very excited to be announcing an opening date of March 16, 2025 for the new 40-bed hotel and Trocadero’s.

"A tribute to the elegance and allure of a bygone era, we wanted to create a destination where guests could escape the ordinary and immerse themselves in a world of glamour and sophistication, whilst enjoying the full experience that only the finest live music and entertainment can provide.”

She added: "We have an incredibly talented team, who have worked in some of the most respected five-star venues in the world and have been hand chosen to bring this unrivalled experience to us here in Scotland."
