Asma Khan has announced she has found a permanent home for her Darjeeling Express restaurant after it closed earlier this year.

Asma has been operating the restaurant as a pop-up in the Pembroke gastropub in London's South Kensington since 24 August.

Sharing the news with her followers in a post on Instagram, Asma said: “Signed Sealed & Delivered – the incredible duo Bharat & Josh of RWK Goodman worked tirelessly to get the lease done – also grateful to the landlord's legal team who tried to get things done quickly.”

She added: “To the great unnamed person who held my hand throughout & read out passages to me on the phone as he knew I would not read. Today is the beginning of a beautiful journey - @darjeelingldn has a new home - and now it's official!”

She also tweeted: "YES! We have a permanent home … coming soon."

The positive news follows developments earlier this year, when it was confirmed in March that the 120-cover Darjeeling Express in London's Covent Garden would move to a venue that will allow Asma to showcase her all female team.

This saw her take over the former Carluccio's site in Seven Dials in 2020, following the initial launch of Darjeeling Express in Kingly Court in the West End's Carnaby Street in 2017.
