Danni Barry joins Ballynahinch Castle as Executive Head Chef
Former Great British Menu contestant Danni Barry, has joined Ballynahinch Castle as Executive Head Chef.
Danni, who previously worked at Michelin-starred Deanes EIPIC, said on Instagram: "I'm so happy to be a part of the great team at Ballynahinch. Looking forward to what's ahead for us all."
In a statement posted on the Ballynahinch Castle she added: “I suppose my approach has always been to keep it simple. So I’ll be finding the best produce I can and using cooking techniques to enhance the ingredients, cooking with the seasons and cooking for the guests. I want everyone who visits Ballynahinch to eat really well, whether they have just popped in for a pint and a bowl of mussels in front of the fire after a walk or they are joining us for dinner in the Owenmore restaurant. Ballynahinch is a hotel that is luxurious and full of character but that also manages to be totally unpretentious. My hope is that my food fits alongside that quite nicely.”
About Danni Barry
Danni left Deanes EIPIC in 2017 to reopen Clenaghans restaurant in the village of Aghalle this November in partnership with Square Bistro’s Stevie and Cristina Higginson.
But the chef didn’t take to running the business as much as she loves to cook, she told The Belfast Times, prompting her to leave Co Antrim in September 2018.
Winner of Ireland’s Chef of the Year 2017 Danni moved on and in 2019 became head chef at Balloo House in Killinchy.
