Blood Alcohol Concentration

Understanding Blood Alcohol Concentration (BAC) is crucial for staying safe. Here’s what different BAC levels can mean for your behaviour and health:

❗Up to 0.05 g%: You may feel good, talkative, relaxed, and confident.
❗0.05 to 0.08 g%: Beware of impaired judgment and reduced inhibitions.
❗0.08 to 0.15 g%: Risk of slurred speech, poor balance, unstable emotions, and nausea.
❗0.15 to 0.30 g%: High risk of inadequate breathing, needing assistance to walk, bladder control loss, and possible unconsciousness.
❗Over 0.30 g%: Danger of coma or death.

The number of drinks it takes to reach a 0.25 BAC level varies from person to person. In general, it can take about 6–8 drinks to reach this level.*

However, the rate at which alcohol increases a persons BAC can be dependant on numerous factors which include the following:
👉 An individuals metabolism rate
👉 A persons sex
👉 Various health issues
👉 Amount of food in the stomach and small intestine
👉 A persons weight
👉 How long they have been drinking

Mindful drinking means knowing the safe limits and keeping an eye on your BAC.
