The concept of MAZI is to introduce authentic Greek flavours with an innovative twist. Authors Christina and Adrien place a strong emphasis on the concept of sharing a feast of small dishes like traditional Spanish tapas.
MAZI means ‘together’ in Greek and references and revives Greece’s noble sharing tradition, which lies at the very core of Christina and Adrien’s ethos.
What kind of recipes are included in Mazi: Modern Greek Food?
From Amuse shots and salads to hot plates and desserts, the recipes in MAZI are exploding with flavour and use only the finest fresh ingredients and simple techniques to achieve the best results.
With dishes like Courgette Cakes with Cucumber and Mint Dip, Imam Bayildi Aubergines with Stilton; Braised Pork Cheeks with Globe and Jerusalem Artichokes; King Prawn Saganaki with Ouzo and Metsovone; and Giouvetsi with Braised Osso Buco. There are also some great twists on traditional dishes such as meatballs and Tzatziki.
Greek food is best known for its savoury recipes but MAZI also showcases the sweet side of Greek cuisine and brings Greek desserts to the attention of the world. Recipes include Armenovil, Pistachio and Mastiha Parfait; Date and Meringue Torta and Tsoureki Fondant with Greek Coffee Ice Cream.
MAZI aims to bring people together around the table for them to sample different dishes and flavour experiences, rather than being served a starter and a main course in a conventional way.
Whilst MAZI draws inspiration from traditional cooking techniques and childhood memories, MAZI reinterprets them with a modern twist.
Throughout MAZI, Christina and Adrien share the stories and traditions behind the recipes as well as giving tips and tricks on how to achieve the best results.
MAZI will take on a culinary journey around Greece indulging in the history, scenery and incredible flavours of this remarkable country. Yamas!
