Gordon and Tana Ramsay met patients and staff at Great Ormond Street Hospital as they announced a new partnership between The Gordon and Tana Ramsay Foundation and Great Ormond Street Hospital Children’s Charity.
The couple spent the morning on ‘Eagle’ ward and took part in cake decorating and colouring activities with children who were preparing for dialysis treatment.
They met patients and their parents, aged from six to 12, as well as staff from the hospital’s play team who encourage patients to use play as a way of preparing for surgery and procedures, aiming to help make the children’s experience of hospital as stress-free as possible.
Each year Great Ormond Street Hospital receives more than 255,000 patient visits from across the UK. The Gordon and Tana Ramsay Foundation will raise funds to help the hospital provide world-class care for young patients and their families.
This includes pioneering new treatments, providing cutting edge equipment and supporting the redevelopment of the hospital to provide state-of-the-art facilities to match the hospital’s world-class care.
Their support will also help to provide new accommodation for parents and families of children being treated so they can be close to their child when they need it most.
Gordon Ramsay said: ‘It was very special to meet the amazing staff, children and families at Great Ormond Street Hospital. Tana and I are delighted to announce our support for this extraordinary place through The Gordon and Tana Ramsay Foundation.”
Tana Ramsay added: ’We had a fantastic morning in Great Ormond Street Hospital cooking, playing and talking with some truly inspiring, young patients. I am so pleased that the Gordon and Tana Ramsay Foundation will be helping Great Ormond Street Hospital, making sure that children like Yusuf have the best possible experience when they are going through so much.’
Tim Johnson, Chief Executive of Great Ormond Street Hospital Children's Charity said: “We are delighted that Gordon and Tana Ramsay have chosen Great Ormond Street Hospital Children's Charity to partner with for their Foundation moving forward and we are incredibly excited about what we can achieve together. .”
