The Black Cow's Shiri Kraus and Amir Batito announce the launch of their new venture Epicurus
The founders of London's renowned middle eastern steakhouse, The Black Cow, have announced the launch of a new restaurant in the heart of Camden’s North Yard.
Epicurus represents a fusion of a traditional American diner, with Middle Eastern flavours and inspirations throughout, and comes after years of experimentation from the restaurant's founders Shiri Kraus and Amir Batito.
Known for their culinary craftmanship at Palomar and The Barbary, the pair are renowned for food that explores familiar concepts using unexpected flavours.
Commenting on the new launch, Amir said: "We are thrilled to be opening a new restaurant in Camden after the roaring success of The Black Cow. We absolutely love the area and feel that we can really offer something new and unique to locals with Epicurus. Lots of time and care has gone into creating the menu, which seriously delivers on taste.”
Epicurus is expected to serve a twist on an elevated American Diner experience, with inspirations from across the globe and a touch of Middle Eastern flair.
Highlights include a classic Canadian Poutine; Meat Grill Sharing Platter with Beef Rib Cap, Confit Pork Belly, Jalapeno & Cheddar Sausage and Lamb Leg Steak; Sloppy Burek - a Middle Eastern take on a classic Sloppy Joe, with Crispy Burek Pastry and Harissa; and a tender Beef Short Rib Rack in Pomegranate Molasses and Date Honey Glaze.
Epicurus will have a big focus on indulgent desserts including their signature dish Yael - Middle Eastern S’mores, Pistachio crunch, Rose Ice Cream and Burnt Meringue.
The drinks menu offers a range of well sourced wines by the glass and higher end bottles as well as extremely decadent alcoholic shakes made with Dondurma Turkish Ice cream, with highlights including Baklava, Honey and Whisky Shake; Tangerine, Pistachio and Gin Shake; Banana, Melon, Date and Rum Shake; and finally Salep and Vodka Shake.
This ethos runs through the core of Epicurus, which is designed to offer good food for maximum satisfaction, with each dish carrying Shiri and Amir’s distinctive vision.
The restaurant is nestled in the heart of Camden Market’s North Yard and is the perfect escape from the hustle and bustle of everyday London living.
Hidden inside an incredible listed building with exposed brickwork and cosy seating, the site is the perfect place to bring friends for a catch-up or celebration and some seriously good food.
