Six chefs join the Slow Food UK Chef Alliance

Six new chefs have joined the Slow Food UK Chef Alliance to help celebrate Slow Food Week happening from the 1st until the 8th June.

Lisa Allen (Head Chef Northcote Manor), Nigel Haworth (Chef Patron, Northcote Manor), Ross Lewis (Chapter One), Richard Sim (Old Boat House), Paula McIntyre (Chef and Caterer) and Darina Allen (Celebrity Chef) join 112 other leading lights of the culinary world who have all pledged their support to actively champion and support the aims of Slow Food UK, in particular its Forgotten Foods programme (UK Ark of Taste); a list of 79 precious UK products that are in danger of disappearing. 

The Slow Food UK Chef Alliance, sponsored by Lavazza Coffee and Highland Park Whisky, will have this September been running for three years and Richard Corrigan, who has been involved since its birth, is thrilled that it has grown so rapidly and that so many chefs coming on-board. Richard explains: “I am delighted to welcome Lisa, Nigel, Ross, Richard, Paul and Darina to the Slow Food UK Chef Alliance. I’m incredibly thankful to them and all of the other brilliant and talented chefs that have joined the Slow Food cause to champion small producers and British produce.

Many of them will be getting involved throughout Slow Food Week with special Forgotten Foods menus and events, it’s definitely going to be the biggest and best Slow Food Week yet.”

Nigel Haworth says: “Our fight to bring back Forgotten Foods is extremely important in order to preserve our gastronomic heritage, this is why I am honoured to join the prestigious UK Chef Alliance and why Slow Food is so vital to us all.”

Darina Allen adds: “Nothing excites us cooks and chefs more than a new find or the rediscovery of a ‘Forgotten Food’ or flavour. Through the Slow Food UK Chef Alliance we can share this knowledge and pass on the skills. I am proud to be a part of this important initiative. The Good, Clean and Fair philosophy of Slow Food ticks all the boxes for me and epitomises the way we should all live our lives.”
