Robin Gill to open new West London restaurant, Maria G's
chef and restaurateur Robin Gill is set to open an Italian restaurant in West London, Maria G's.
Robin told The Evening Standard that the Warwick Lane restaurant, poised to launch in June, will be “a true neighbourhood restaurant - the kind of place that everyone would like to have at the end of their street, that you could come to every week.”
Inspired by his time spent in southern Italy, namely in the fishing village of Marina Del Cantone along the Amalfi coast, the ground floor restaurant will be built into a new Riverstone development between Earl's Court and Kensington.
The food will thus be heavily influenced by southern Italian culture, serving dishes such as ricotta agnolotti with baby purple artichoke; rosemary and orange bresaola, and mullet plated with Amalfi lemons and fennel aioli.
The chef said that Maria G's would be taking him "down memory lane," allowing him to create his favourite dishes with some of his favourite ingredients from his beloved suppliers.
The restaurant, the chef's second in West London (after Rye by the Water in Brentford) and fifth in the capital (joining Darby's in Vauxhall, Sorella in Clapham and Bermondsey Larder, after the chef closed his flagships, The Dairy and Counter Culture, in 2020) will also focus on sustainability.
The chef also oversees the food offering at Birch, a hotel and member's space in Hertfordshire.
