Owen Morrice named The Staff Canteen member of the year 2020
Here at The Staff Canteen, we feature a different member every month who we think deserves to be celebrated - Now it's time to celebrate our 2020 member of the year: Owen Morrice!
A loyal member of The Staff Canteen and the chef who received the most votes from you, our readers, Owen Morrice will win a Global knife, a Chef Works apron/jacket worth £100, a highly-coveted TSC Blue Mug, and will have his name engraved in the MOTY trophy.
Owen is head chef at Down the Hatch, South Queensferry in Scotland, but he is also at college studying to teach cookery. The menu at Down the Hatch is classic Canadian and North American food: burgers, big dirty sandwiches, loaded fries, loads of smoked cuts, all made in-house with amazing quality local produce.
Upon winning the award, Owen said: "It's a great achievement for me, I'm so proud, especially after the year that we've all had."
He thanked his team at Down the Hatch and everyone at the West Lothian College, who've offered him "great support over the last year," as well as everyone who voted for him.
"I really appreciate it, I'm chuffed to bits."
