One new two star and 12 new one stars in the Michelin Guide New York 2017

The Staff Canteen

Michelin Guide New York 2017 was released on Tuesday, November 15,  a couple of days earlier than planned, unveiling one new two star entry and 12 new one stars amongst the 857 eateries listed in this year’s guide.

The twelfth edition of the guide also revealed that although there were no new three stars entries this year all six in the category retained their stars, this also goes for the two star category with the exception of Aska which is new to the list this year and Ichimura which was left off the list entirely after its recent closure. Elsewhere 61 restaurants make up the one star category which includes 12 new entries to this year’s edition. The 12 new additions include La Sirena, Ushiwakamaru, Sushi Inoue, L’Appart, Gunter Seeger NY, Nix, Sushi Zo, Agrern, Sushi Ginza Onodera, Kanonyama, Contra and Faro.

The release of the Michelin Guide New York 2017 comes about one week after Michelin announced its famous Bib Gourmand choices.  Starred restaurants and Bib Gourmands are only two of the categories within the Michelin Guide New York 2017. The book, which is now available for purchase, also includes a popular ‘Under $25’ category. Throughout the guide there are helpful symbols for easy reference on price ranges, overall dining comfort, wheel chair access, late night dining, breakfast and brunch service, and notable wine, beer, sake, and exceptional cocktail lists. Eateries that serve dim sum are also noted.

New York is one of four cities in the U.S. where Michelin publishes an annual guide. The others include Chicago, San Francisco and Washington D.C.
