The Good Food Guide 2015, published by Waitrose, will open its period of nominations next month for the highly regarded Readers’ Restaurant of the Year awards.

The annual awards celebrate great food and service at restaurants, pubs and cafes from around the country with the public invited to nominate their favourite neighbourhood dining establishments across ten different UK regions.

Nominations are open from March 3 with the basic criteria that restaurants must be independently run and offer regional or local produce where possible with the ten regional winners as voted by the people will be put to the Good Food Guide judging panel to declare the overall winner.

Elizabeth Carter, Consultant Editor, The Waitrose Good Food Guide, said: “It’s such a triumph for a restaurant to win one of our regional Reader Restaurant of the Year awards, for they are nominated by their own customers.

“These awards give our Good Food readers the opportunity to bring their favourite restaurants to our attention. I think it’s a fantastic way to highlight the wonderful and varied restaurants, pubs and cafes we have around the country.”

Not only do the awards allow the public to honour their favourite places to eat, but it also provides a welcome boost in business terms to the winner. Many who have achieved this award in the past have noted uplift in bookings, takings and staff morale as a result of an award from The Good Food Guide.

Candice Fonseca, from last year’s winner Delifonseca, said: “We are all in pleasurable shock at winning this award from The Good Food Guide, especially as we were in the company of other great shortlisted restaurants.

“We always try and put our customers first so it’s fantastic when they make their voices heard in such a brilliant way. We all love what we do but this adds icing to the cake.”

To take part in the awards restaurants can simply visit the Good Food website or make official nomination postcards available during the nomination period of 3-12 March. Ten regional winners will be announced at the end of June with the overall winner revealed in September.
