Following the success of the 'Signature Chefs’ recipe book from the Heart of England and Wales, the publishers have announced their next edition will focus on the South West of England and Channel Islands.
Celebrating the Greatest British chefs, venues and producers of the regions, Signature Chefs is set to raise the bar in respect to quality British hospitality. Each of the book s are printed in England and hand finished, offering the contributing chefs the opportunity to personalise their own covers. A first in the UK.
“We are honoured to be able to work with some the Britain’s Greatest Chefs,” comments founder and publisher James Day. “It is therefore fitting that our books reflect their passion for perfection at every touch point and support British suppliers, by printing them in the UK.
"Signature Chefs are a celebration of the Greatest Chefs, we also profile key venues in the region and highlight local heroes in the form of the producers who supply these venues."
Signature chefs books contains over 200 pages of unique recipes with high quality, colour photography; as well as editorial contributions from renowned chefs from the regions. Heart of England edition included Michelin chefs: Shaun Hill of The Walnut Tree in Abergavenny; David Everitt-Matthias of two Michelin-starred, Le Champignon Sauvage in Cheltenham; Raymond Blancs' Le Manoir Cookery School in Oxfordshire; and all five Michelin stars in Birmingham, including TV Chef, Glynn Purnell.
For this edition 'Signature Chefs' have partenered up with The Staff Canteen and director Mark Morris said: "The Staff Canteen are delighted to be associated with Signature Chefs. Many of the chefs we have supplied recipes for the book are members of our site or have been featured by us so this partnership is a natural fit for us and in harmony with what we do."
Chefs and venues are selected with the help of Gourmet-Lifestyle members – a lifestyle network started by founder James Day with over 10,000 members – and national dining guides. Though he points out entry into the ‘Signature Chefs’ recipe book is strictly by invitation only. The South West is of no exception with contributions from Paul Ainsworth, Shaun Rankin and Angela Harnett to name but a few.
Partner profiles. Producers and suppliers are also celebrated with editorial feature s and profiles. South West is supporting The Wild Beer company in Shepton Mallet, a craft brewery who recently opened their newest food led pub in Wapping Wharf Bristol adding to their Cheltenham Venue ‘Jessop House’. Cocktail support is from as well as Chase Distillery who are providing cocktail matching linked to the Pig Hotel Chef Director James Golding.
“All chefs dream of having their own cookbook to showcase their recipes, so when coming up with the concept of ‘Signature Chefs’ we decided to offer the unique opportunity for contributors to create their own front cover,” explains James Day.
“Each chef has the opportunity to sit shoulder-to-shoulder amongst the regions finest and sell the book to their guests and diners with their dish on the cover. Now they can offer a unique and exclusive dining experience to go with it.
Gourmet-experiences. This edition will also be supported by working closely with key chefs and venues to create unique food led experiences for the public to enjoy featured in the book, and listed on our Gourmet-experiences website. Launched during British Food Fortnight (Sept 18th) the unique experiences will celebrate the best each chef and venue has to offer.
“We are all about creating the experience,” adds James. “From the purchasing of the book, through quality, finish and content, and are excited to extend our offer to create these gourmet-experiences for the public to purchase for themselves, or as a gift leading up to Christmas – they are the perfect treat for any avid gourmand wanting to experience something a little different.
