Jury announced for World Chocolate Masters pre-selection

The Staff Canteen

The jury has been announced for next year's World Chocolate Masters UK pre-selection. The one-day contest will take place on 18th February 2015 at Westminster Kingsway College, with four contestants competing to be awarded the coveted title “UK and Irish Chocolate Master” as well as the chance to represent the country at the 2015 grand international final in Paris.

The Honorary Head of the Jury will be Michel Roux Jr, and the Head of Judges Gary Hunter, pastry chef lecturer at Westminster Kingsway College.

The technical jury will be composed of three people, all of them previous UK Chocolate Masters: Mark Tilling, tutor at Squires Kitchen, John Costello, senior confectioner at Nestle’s Product Technology Centre and Ruth Hinks, owner of Cocoa Black. Finally, there will be a tasting jury composed of eight: Sarah Hartnett from Sheraton Park Lane, Joanne Todd from Browns Hotel, Sara Jayne Staynes OBE from the Academy of Chocolate, Dom Ramsey from Chocablog, David Girard from The Dorchester, Rachel Humphrey from Le Gavroche, Markus Bohr from Harrods and Hideko Kawa, Pastry Consultant.

The theme of both this pre-selection and the international final is ‘Inspiration from Nature’. The chocolatiers will have to play with colours, shapes, scents and textures in order to impress the jury. For more information on the competition, visit the World Chocolate Masters website
