Clare Smyth of Restaurant Gordon Ramsay receives MBE

Clare Smyth, Chef Patron of Restaurant Gordon Ramsay, will tomorrow collect her MBE at Buckingham Palace.  The award, which was granted by Her Majesty the Queen earlier this year, will be the culmination of a tremendous year for the restaurant which is one of only four in the UK to be awarded three Michelin stars. Top chef Albert Roux extends special invite to Andy Murray’s new hotel

One of the best-known chefs in the world is giving the public the chance to shape the menu at Andy Murray’s new hotel, Cromlix in Dunblane.  Albert Roux, who opened Le Gavroche, the UK’s first Michelin-starred restaurant, in 1967, is offering Scottish foodies a unique opportunity to help with the setting-up of the Chez Roux restaurant at the tennis star’s hotel. Teenager buys £600 worth of shopping for 4p and donates food to charity

A teenager collected hundreds of supermarket coupons to buy £600 worth of shopping for 4p so he could give the food to families.  Jordon Cox, 16, scoured endless websites and magazines and gathered hundreds of coupons for dozens of products.  After spending hours each day searching the internet for coupons, he managed to collect 470, which he took to his local supermarket, and filled three trolleys with food and household items. Christmas dinner on a food parcel

Christmas dinner for many children this year may be a food parcel from a local food bank, the charity Barnardo's is warning. In a survey of 118 of its services - including 65 children's centres - it found 94% reported an increased demand for food bank help. Read more from BBC News
