Chef Dean Banks secures new site for Haar Restaurant in St Andrews
Chef Dean Banks is set to reopen his restaurant at 1 Golf Place in St Andrews in December.
In an Instagram post showing the exterior of the beautiful new location, MasterChef: The Professionals 2018 finalist chef Dean Banks commented that “We are going to put our stamp on the interior of this beautiful building and are currently under way with renovations”.
The restaurant itself will be split over two floors and will have space to seat 38 covers. Along with that, there will also be a chef's table seating four guests offering a fusion style tasting menu using great quality local ingredients.
Additionally, given that the location was originally a hotel, the chef plans to open four guest suites along with the restaurant.
The plan at current is for the restaurant portion to be completed in December, while the rooms won't be finished until shortly after by the new year.
"We look forward to welcoming back our loyal customers in our new home and can't wait to crack a bottle [of Champagne] to celebrate," the chef said.
Having originally opened Haar at the Kinettles hotel in 2019, the chef closed in it April having been unable to reach an agreement with the landlord and was looking to move the restaurant to its ‘forever home’.
The chef recently took over The Pompadour at The Waldorf Astoria hotel in Edinburgh, but was always adamant about reopening his flagship in St Andrews.
