Here at The Staff Canteen, we feature a different member every month we think deserves to be celebrated - this month’s winner is JAMES PLOWRIGHT.

Current Place Of Work/Position?
Head Chef at The Bugle, a charming gastropub with rustic character in Hamble-le-Rice, with a pretty terrace overlooking the River Hamble.
What is your cooking style and what should people expect from the food on your menu?
My menu is a mixture of two different cooking styles, probably best described as old-school English and French dishes.
What is your favorite dish to cook and why?
My favourite dish to cook is lamb shank with mashed potatoes. I always like using the additions of morels and Madeira.
Name a food item/dish/ingredient that isn’t considered “cheffy” but that you love to eat
Baked beans on toast with lots and cheese and the addition of Lea and Perrins.
What do you like about The Staff Canteen app and website?
I like The Staff Canteen because it let's me showcase my dishes and skills for others chefs members to see.
What are your plans for the future?
My plans for the future are to continue being head chef at The Bugle and cook delicious food for people to enjoy.
What is the most important lesson you’ve learnt as a chef?
The most important lesson I’ve learned is to stay humble and learn from great chefs which has shaped me to who I am as a chef today.
