Chef Career Advice

Based on his extensive experience working within the Culinary Education Industry, Director, Geoff Booth offers her advice to aspiring Chefs in an attempt to help them on their journey up the career ladder:

Geoff Booth Westminster Kingsway College Director of School of Hospitality.

I think It's a really a good industry for people who want to make their mark on an industry make a career out of it, you've got to be prepared to work hard, but it's a people industry so those people with personality will find it's an industry full of opportunity, food remains a central part of our culture I think you know for that reason you can choose different parts of the industry and make a good career from it, but one of the most interesting pieces of advice would be to follow your dream and not be afraid to have a dream, you don't have to share it with anyone but you do have to have a dream when our student leaves Westminster Kingsway College.

We've obviously gone to a lot of learning skills development knowledge; we want them to have experience so that they hit the ground running. There not the finished article but they have a really good opportunity to get a good job and start a good career and that’s what we value at Westminster Kingsway College.

Food service as much as we value the whole culinary arts it's a vital part of the whole mix of successful hospitality great Chef, great food good service, then real things happen the customer will come back if they have a good experience given in a restaurant itself if the food is good great if the service is bad they may never return so it's a united approach to the success of hospitality.
