UNICEF have launched a new campaign called #emptyplate to raise awareness for World Food Day.
The well-known charity is still striving to help improve the problem of hunger across the world with three million children dying each year from malnutrition.
And this year UNICEF have taken to social media to try and spread the word and are asking people to follow these three simple steps:
- 1. Take a picture of an empty plate
- 2. Post your picture on Instagram or Twitter
- 3. Add a message to show your support with the hashtags #WFD2013 #food and #emptyplate
The Food and Agriculture Organisation of the United Nations marks World Food Day each year on 16 October, the day on which the Organisation was founded in 1945.
UNICEF is doing more than anyone to protect children from malnutrition and is only asking for a moment of your time to snap a #emptyplate picture to show that you believe every child should have the food they need to live and grow.
Other ways to try and promote World Food Day this year include a poster competition with the theme of ‘Healthy Food Systems’ with the winners set to receive an EndingHunger t-shirt.
