Blue Hill at Stone Barns went straight in at two stars - a practice which, while not unheard of, is unusual.
According to the full list as published by Eater, Eleven Madison Park, Le Bernadin, Masa, Per Se and Chef's Table at Brooklyn Fare retained their three stars in the guide this year - as celebrated by chef Éric Ripert on his Instagram page:
Eight restaurants were awarded a star for the first time: Benno, Crown Shy, Estela, The Four Horsemen, Le Jardinier, Odo, Oxalis, and Ukiyo.
Meanwhile, Sushi Ginza Onodera went down from two stars to one after the departure of chef Masaki Saito, as did coastal Italian restaurant Marea, with chef Michael White at the helm.
This year, the guide expanded its reach for the city to Westchester County for the first time - allowing for the addition of Blue Hill at Stone Barns.
We will publish the full list of The Big Apple's 76 starred restaurants when it is published by Michelin.
