Tickets now available for South West Chef of the Year 2015

With heats for South West Chef of the Year now well underway, the region’s prestigious cooking competition is preparing for its glittering presentation dinner and awards ceremony on Thursday, October 29 and has just announced that tickets are now for sale.

Held at the Exeter Golf and Country Club - who sponsor the event, the awards ceremony includes a sumptuous three course dinner with dishes prepared by three top chefs, all prior winners of South West Chef of the Year. Co-founder and judge, 2 Michelin starred chef Michael Caines MBE will host the evening with students of the Michael Caines Academy assisting in both the kitchen and front of house. The evening begins with a drinks reception and canapés at 6.45pm following which guests enjoy a three course dinner prepared by Dean Westcar – South West Professional Chef of the Year 2014, Tom Scade – South West Professional Chef of the Year 2011 and Elly Wentworth – South West Young Professional Chef of the Year 2012 and 2014.

Michael Caines said: “The presentation dinner will be a fitting celebration of another successful year for South West Chef of the Year. The competition draws passionate chefs from the region to battle it out in closely matched heats. I am very proud of the achievements of all our finalists and it is particularly rewarding to invite some of those winners back to cook the food at the presentation dinner.” Dean Westcar, Junior Sous Chef at the Michelin-starred Manor House Hotel in Castle Combe said: “It is an honour to prepare a course for the South West Chef of the Year presentation dinner and awards ceremony. The competition is a fantastic opportunity for everyone who loves to cook at a high level. The South West is beginning to get the reputation it deserves for its chefs, restaurants and producers and I am delighted to be invited to ensure that message continues to be spread.”

Tickets for the dinner can be purchased online via https://www.southwestchef.co.uk/awards-evening/ and cost £75 per person. The event is generously supported by wine suppliers enotria and Great Western Wine with ingredients provided by Kingfisher Brixham, Ritter Courivaud Ltd and Total Produce.
