The Sportsman named best gastropub in the country for the fifth time in Estrella Damm Top 50
The Sportsman has been named UK's number one pub in the the Estrella Damm Top 50 Gastropub Awards after taking the title in 2015, 2016, 2018 and 2019.
For the first time, to give a much-needed boost to British pubs in one of the toughest years they have seen, the company compiled a 100-long list, which you can consult in on two separate tabs on their website.
The top 10 in the 2021 list are as follows:
1. The Sportsman in Kent
2. The Star Inn at Harome in North Yorkshire
3. The Harwood Arms in London
4. The Parkers Arms in Lancashire
5. The Mariners in Cornwall
6. Freemasons at Wiswell in Lancashire
7. The Hand & Flowers in Buckinghamshire
8. The Compasses in Kent
9. The Coach in Buckinghamshire
10. The Unruly Pig in Suffolk
It was The Unruly Pig's first time in the top 10, and it took the title of Highest Climber as well:

Meanwhile, The Hand and Flowers is offering a special menu this weekend to celebrate having retained its spot on the list.

Paul and Emma Ainsworth's newest gem, The Mariners in Rock, made the top 10 after being named Best Newcomer in 2020.
