The Dairy to reopen in Bermondsey

Two weeks ago, Robin Gill announced the closure of his flagship restaurant in Clapham, The Dairy, due to the effects of the pandemic - but the chef is in fact set to relaunch the site at a new location in Bermondsey. 

In a video posted on social media, he said: The last news that we shared was very sad, but I want to thank everybody for all their amazing comments, all all their amazing messages that I, Sarah and the family at The Dairy received was just overwhelming, it was insane." 

"I thought it'd be nice to get back on here and share some good news," he continued. 

"We've been very lucky to have some great friends in the industry, so I'm very pleased to announce that we have moved to Bermondsey," he said, before revealing a joyous team crouching behind the bar with champagne glasses.

Robin and Sarah borrowed money from friends and family to open up The Dairy in Clapham in 2013, after investors fell through, bringing a team together including alumni from Le Manoir, where the couple first met.  

Two years later, they launched The Manor - which became Counter Culture - a Delicatessen turned wine bar. 

Then, last summer, they opened Darby's at Embassy Gardens in Vauxhall, an Irish restaurant and oyster bar inspired by the chef's late father and famous jazz musician, Earl 'Darby' Gill.

Like many others, Darby's was forced to close during the spring due to the pandemic, but continued to cook food to donate to NHS charities. It has since reopened its doors to diners.

Reservations are open for the new Bermondsey site, and the soft launch will start next Thursday 10th September, offering 25% off food with a complimentary welcome cocktail on arrival, ending on September 20th.
