The Crown at Burchetts Green will feed guests for the last time on December 18th 2021, drawing the Bonwick family's nine successful years at the Berkshire pub restaurant to a close.

In a statement, the chef patron of the Michelin-starred site, Simon Bonwick, said the family business was set for "new beginnings in a bright future," the details of which will be shared in due course.

"Our last food service in the 'little' Crown will be dinner the Saturday 18th December 2021," he said, and reaching the conclusion of almost nine years running the Berkshire pub restaurant, "the Bonwick family want to thank our loyal and supportive guests many of whom we are now lucky enough to call friends.

"We have loved being in Burchetts Green, it’s been the perfect spot for a country pub restaurant offering our particular style of hospitality. It’s a story for us though that has reached a natural conclusion.

"We’ve had a great laugh and are happy and proud of the story we have created!"

The restaurant, which opened in 2013, overseen by Simon, his wife Deborah and their nine children - though Dean has since returned to The Waterside Inn as assistant manager, his son George now runs the front of house -  has celebrated a number of successes in less than a decade of existence, earning 3 AA Rosettes, a Michelin star, as well as recognition in the Good Food Guide, from SquareMeal and regular high rankings in The Top 50 Gastropubs (17th this year) and the NRA Top 100 (68th) lists.

Simon released his first cookbook this year, a celebration of his 36-year career as a chef, most especially the two decades of which he has spent Cooking in Pubs - giving the book its name. It is available to order here.
