The BCF Young Chef of the Year competition returns for 2022
The BCF Young Chef of the Year 2022 is open to all young chefs who are 25 years of age or under on the day of the competition.
The British Culinary Federation (BCF) have announced the return of the BCF Young Chef of the Year competition, with this year’s final being held at the University College Birmingham on November 7.
Competitors taking part in this year’s competition will need to create a three-course meal for two covers in two hours.
Their entry will then be paper judged by this year’s judges, with finalists selected and notified.
The menu needs to include; a hot starter of their choice, a main course using 400g of grass fed dry aged sirloin of Irish beef with a garnish of Irish beef offal of their choosing provided by Bord Bia the Irish Food Board and supplied by Aubrey Allen, and sweet course of their choice.
Competitors will need to use at least one Major product in their menu as well as Lakeland Dairies Real Dairy Whipping Cream and Salted or Unsalted Butter, which will also be provided on the day.
The competition is open to all young chefs who are 25 years of age and under on the date of the competition.
For non-BCF members, entry fee is £25 which includes one year’s free membership.
Chosen dishes, listed ingredients and a brief method must be included with your entry, along with name, home address, place of work, mobile number, age, and jacket size.

1st: Gold Medal, David Bache Trophy, cheque for £500, Chef Educational Trip to Ireland in 2023, winner’s commemorative plate, framed certificate, seeded entry into National Young Chef of the Year Final 2023
2nd: Silver Medal Cheque for £300, commemorative plate, framed certificate.
3rd: Bronze Medal cheque for £150, commemorative plate, framed certificate.
Awards will also be presented for Best Starter, Best Main Course, Best Sweet.
