The Taste of London Winter food festival is coming to London’s East End for four days of food extravagance, starting tomorrow and running till the 23rd November.

Located a stone’s throw from Shoreditch in Tobacco Dock, Taste of London Winter (formerly known as Taste of Christmas) will be a winter feast for the senses.

The theme for 2014 is ‘Forgotten Foods’. Chefs and restaurants at the festival will be looking at ingredients, skills and techniques not commonly used today and bringing them to life. Taking inspiration from previous generations, they will use wild British ingredients often ignored and show visitors where to find them and how to cook them.

Restaurants from the best of London’s restaurant scene will offering their dishes for visitors to try, including Peruvian Andina and tapas from Ember Yard and Brindisa. Newly launched Japanese restaurant Kurobuta will be making their Taste debut and Assado and Rota Chai will be bringing a spicy element to the festival. Also appearing will be East London favourite Hixter, showcasing their chicken and steak inspired menu, Shake Shack with their signature burgers and Gaucho, with their classic Argentine steaks.

Other favourites returning this year are three times Best in Taste winner Club Gascon, Barbecoa, Benares and The Truscott Arms, along with Action Against Hunger, who will be working with top chefs from around the world to create new luxury ‘Haute Dogs’.

In the Electrolux Taste Theatre, visitors will be able to watch chefs in action such as Raymond Blanc, who will be championing lost heritage fruit and vegetables, along with top names like Michel Roux Jnr, Valentine Warner, Monica Galetti and Simon Rogan.
