This year's winner of the fifth annual Sunday Times top 100 Restaurants list for 2014 is Marc Wilkinson's restaurant Fraiche in Oxton, Cheshire with Le Manoir aux Quat’ Saisons climbing five places to the number two spot. The list also, excitingly, includes a new entry in the form of Harry's Place in Great Gonerby, Cheshire and a re-entry, Martin Wishart at Loch Lomond.

The lists' highest riser is Edinburgh's Castle Terrace which has risen from 69 last year all the way to 18.

Two London restaurants feature in the guide’s top ten with four altogether featuring in the top top twenty, The Ledbury in Notting Hill, Rasoi in Chelsea, Le Gavroche in Mayfair and Kitchen Table, Bubbledogs in Fitzrovia. Three Midlands restaurants also feature: Mr Underhill’s in Ludlow, Restaurant Sat Bains in Nottingham and Harry’s Place in Great Gonerby, the highest ranked new entry in the entire top 100.

Last year's number one Gidleigh Park has dropped down eight places to take the ninth spot.

Editor of The Sunday Times 100 Top Restaurants, Karen Robinson, said: “The Sunday Times Restaurant List is the definitive guide to the best places to eat in Britain. We carefully compile and analyse the reviews of thousands of diners to produce our top 100, so the chefs and restaurants that feature have truly earned their place.”

She added – “It is very exciting to see the evolution of the list since The Sunday Times first published it in 2010 – this year has seen a marked increase in the number of restaurants outside London, a sign that we are becoming an increasingly sophisticated culinary nation.”

The full 100 list can be found in this morning's edition of the Sunday Times newspaper.
