Sat Bains is the only British chef to make the 100 Best Chefs in the world list

Two Michelin starred chef, Sat Bains is the only British chef to be included in the 100 Best Chefs in the world list as voted for by other two and three Michelin starred chefs.

The chef has beaten the likes of Heston Blumenthal and Gordon Ramsay to be the only British chef in the world to make French magazine, Le Chef’s top 100 list coming in at number 84.

Sat said: “There’s no greater honour than being voted for by your peers, and to be listed among chefs that I admire and look up to – and many I count among my friends – makes me very proud. It’s an incredible feeling to be flying the flag for the UK in such a prestigious list.”

The list is compiled by a survey taken from 582 two and three Michelin starred chefs from around the world. Each chef is tasked with naming five other chefs they think best represent the values of their profession.

The number one spot for 2018 has been claimed by Michel Troisgros from Maison Troisgros in Ouches, France. Rounding off the top three include Yannick Alleno from Alleno in Paris and Joan Roca from El Celler de Can Roca in Girona in Spain.

The list has come under fire in the past for favouring French restaurants with the 2017 list featuring 35 chefs from France with this year’s list being bumped up to 41.
