Romy Gill MBE closes Romy's Kitchen after six years
Romy Gill MBE's flagship restaurant in Thornbury is now closed, the chef has confirmed on social media.
Responding to a Tweet from Bloomberg critic Richard Vines, she said:
- 10 Minutes With: Romy Gill MBE, Romy's Kitchen
- Romy Gill awarded MBE in the Queen’s Birthday Honours List
- Romy Gill is the first chef announced for Carousel in 2016
Thank you dear Richard, but it was time . New challenges and new adventures ahead !

Romy's Kitchen opened in 2013, three years before she received an MBE on the Queen's 90th birthday.
Guardian food critic Grace Dent called it "a large, welcoming neighbourhood stop-off with room to host family and friends," neither too hip or too laboured.
Romy Gill has been vocal about the difficulties of opening your own small business and has spoken openly about her struggle to find backing for the restaurant. Though this marks the end of a six-year tenure at the Gloucestershire restaurant, the chef and author has plenty on her plate.
Her latest cookbook - Zaika, Vegan Recipes from India - is due out in September, and as well as writing and teaching, the chef regularly appears at shows and festivals and hosts cooking demonstrations and pop-ups across the country. Recent appearances at London venues have seen her cooking at Northcote, Soho House and at Carousel in London.
